Born and raised in what is today called Austin, TX.
This body of work has, and continues to emerge from what MB has termed " MINDSOUP " ; the ever-churning energy of thoughts and feelings floating throughout the mind and body. After surviving a violent near death experience, MB has relied on making MINDSOUP to heal and reduce harm to themself and to others. Instead of transmitting more suffering into the world, MB takes on the role of Alchemist, transforming negative energy, words, thoughts or actions into actions that yield these whimsical, shiny happy objects; relics of the healing process. With roots as a Performance Artist, and a neurodiversity called Synesthesia, MB’s work invites full sensory engagement from viewer and artist alike.
The MINDSOUP maker uses abstract shapes and multicolored materials to transform the world around us into a playground of colorchanging canvases and light-bouncin BLOPS.
MINDSOUP investigates the full spectrum of life - especially celebrating those who experience shifts in their identities, skin tones, orientations, and/or perception of the world. This mixty, neurodiverse queerdo uses ancestral wisdom + synesthetic weirdness to make little moments of magic, finding comfort and liberation in the brain buzz that bubbles and boils into this funkadelic form of Alchemy.
Like us creatures of clay, every single piece of MINDSOUP is a one of a kind, imperfect object. Markers of metamorphosis, these tokens of energy - once pain - now transformed into something curious and wonderful for you to find sprinkled around in the world ✨
